“I'd really appreciate it if you could give me a call before coming in — that way you'll never have a wasted trip if I've had to step out.”

Simple as a phone call
The quickest way to book is a quick call — Maria will let you know a good time to pop in.
Call first
Ring 0468 302 055 and tell Maria what you need and by when. Please call before visiting to avoid a wasted trip.
Pop in with your garment
Bring the item at your agreed time. Maria talks it through and prices it on the spot — no surprises.
Collect it, perfectly fitted
Pick up your freshly altered clothes — or ask about an express hem if you need it fast.
Tight deadline or bridal work? Call and say so — we'll do our best to fit you in.
What we can do
Almost anything worn can be adjusted, taken in, let out, shortened or repaired. Here's the everyday work that comes through the studio most often:
Hemming
Trousers, jeans, skirts and dresses shortened or lengthened — including original-hem and blind-hem finishes on jeans.
Taking in & letting out
Waists, sides, backs and bust adjusted so garments follow your shape instead of fighting it.
Zip replacement
New zips for dresses, trousers, jeans, jackets and skirts — including concealed (invisible) zips.
Repairs & mending
Split seams, tears, holes, buttons, hooks and worn linings repaired or replaced.
Resizing & restyling
Bring a piece back after a size change, or update the shape of something you've stopped wearing.
Sleeves & cuffs
Shirt and jacket sleeves shortened or lengthened, cuffs adjusted, shoulders tidied.
Suits & jackets
Trousers tapered and hemmed, jackets taken in, sleeves set right for a sharp fit.
Uniforms & workwear
School uniforms and work clothes altered and repaired — 15% off school uniform work.
How pricing works
Every garment is different, so Maria prices each job in person once she's seen the item and understood exactly what you'd like. There's no obligation — you'll know the price before any work begins, with no surprises when you collect.
Turnaround
Most everyday alterations are ready within a few days depending on how busy the studio is. If you're up against an event date, say so when you call — express options may be available (see Express Hems).
What to bring to your fitting
- The garment, clean and ready to try on.
- The shoes you'll wear with it — essential for getting hems right.
- Any belt, underlayer or shapewear you'll wear on the day.
- A rough idea of your deadline, if you have one.
Common questions

Do I need an appointment?
Can you alter jeans and keep the original hem?
Can you fix something that's torn or worn?
Is there a discount for uniforms or seniors?
Bring in the clothes you love
Call ahead and Maria will find you a time.
Need it in a hurry?
Life happens — a last-minute event, trousers that are too long the night before, a dress that just arrived. When you're short on time, ask Maria about an express hem.
How it works
Whether a same-day or one-hour turnaround is possible is confirmed with Maria directly by phone. It depends on the garment, the fabric, the type of hem and how busy the studio is that day — so the honest answer is always "let's have a quick chat first." Call 0468 302 055 and Maria will tell you straight away what she can do and when it'll be ready.
Good to know
- Express turnaround carries a 20% surcharge on the standard price for the work.
- Best suited to straightforward hems — more complex jobs need proper time to do well.
- Bring the shoes you'll wear so the length is exactly right.
- Always call ahead — express slots depend on the day and can't be guaranteed without a chat.

Curtains that fit your windows
Whether they're pooling on the floor, too wide for the track, or a hand-me-down that needs adjusting, Maria can reshape curtains so they look tailor-made for the room.
Shortening & hemming
Taken up to the perfect length — just skimming the floor or sill.
Taking in the width
Reduced to fit a narrower window or track without bunching.
Re-heading
Adjustments to pencil pleat, tab-top and eyelet headings.
Weights & linings
Hem weights and lining tidy-ups so curtains hang straight.
Getting a quote
Because every window and curtain is different, curtains are quoted individually. Call Maria with a rough idea of your window size and what you need, or bring the curtains in — she'll give you a clear price.
Measuring tip
- Note the drop you'd like (top of the heading to where the hem should sit).
- Note the track or rod width.
- Let Maria know the heading type (pencil pleat, eyelet, tab-top).
Your dress, made to fit only you
Almost no gown fits perfectly off the rack — and that's exactly what alterations are for. Bought in a boutique, ordered online, inherited or vintage, Maria will shape it to you with the care a special dress deserves.
Taking in & letting out
The bodice and waist adjusted for a smooth, confident fit.
Hemming
Length set to your shoes, with the right finish for the fabric.
Straps, cups & support
Straps adjusted, cups and bra-cups added, backs and necklines reshaped.
Bustles
Trains bustled up so you can move and dance after the ceremony.
Bridesmaids & mothers
The whole party altered to match, so everyone feels their best.
Formal & debs
School formals, debutante gowns, evening and black-tie occasions.
How bridal alterations work
Bridal is booked by appointment so your dress gets the time it deserves — please call ahead.
- Book early — ideally a couple of months before the day, so there's time for careful, unhurried work.
- Two to three fittings — bring your shoes and the underthings you'll wear on the day.
- Delicate fabrics welcome — silk, lace, tulle, beading and satin all handled with care.
- Ready in good time — pressed and finished before the day, with your price confirmed early.
